F96 x Amnesty International Lesung
With football player und human rights activist Khalida Popal
In collaboration with Amnesty International, we are honoured to host Khalida Popal for a reading from her book My Beautiful Sisters. The reading marks the opening of our exhibition on Afghan women’s football, running in parallel with the Women’s Euro. Together, we want to highlight the political and emancipatory power of football and collective resistance.

Vernissage with Lara Gabathuler "A Different Goal"
The gender gap is a daily reality in professional football. For example, women earn nowhere near as much as men, are not judged solely on their performance, and often face poorer training conditions. "A Different Goal" is an activist educational project that addresses the challenges women face in football on a daily basis.
By designing eleven football jerseys, different aspects of discrimination are brought to light. Each jersey highlights a different issue that plays a role on or off the pitch. These jerseys are more than just pieces of clothing — they are ambassadors that aim to inspire reflection and discussion in everyday life or during football matches. The project seeks to make a clear statement for greater visibility, recognition, and equality in football.
A Film by Yonca and Deborah
While the Women’s Euro 2025 is taking place, Yonca (filmmaker & photographer) and Deborah (filmmaker) follow a young team of Afghan refugee football players. They offer insight into the lives of aspiring national players – as a symbol of resistance and empowerment.
And finally, an event tip: At ZW (Zentralwäscherei), all matches of the Women’s Euro are currently being shown as public viewings. ZW is a central institution in Zurich’s cultural scene – but its future is uncertain. It relies on support, so here’s a call to action: Go watch the games and bring your friends and family! On July 27, right after the Euro final, there will also be an afterparty at ZW – organized by Frau Müller (the magazine about Swiss women’s football) and F96.
It’s going to be great – come by!
But for now let us reminisce on a successful reading. Here are some impressions <3
